According to India’s “Economic Times” report on June 23, people familiar with the matter said that in addition to Vietnam and Indonesia, Foxconn’s electric vehicle company Foxtron may consider production in India.

A source said Foxconn had no initial plans to manufacture in India, but has been studying the Indian auto market recently and is considering expanding into India as well as Vietnam and Indonesia to expand its manufacturing base for other markets.

The government of India’s Tamil Nadu state is looking to attract further investment from Foxconn, said people familiar with the matter. “They have already expressed interest in electric vehicle manufacturing, so we told them that Tamil Nadu is a good place to go.”

Previously, Foxconn  had already laid out its plans to produce electric vehicles in Southeast Asia, including establishing a new electric vehicle manufacturing plant in Thailand through a joint venture with the National Petroleum Corporation of Thailand (PTT), which will be put into production as soon as 2024.
